Agriculture - From Farmer to Energy Producer
- Exploiting the value of biomass
- Recycling process water
- Disinfecting process water
Biomass from farms and businesses producing organic waste is now increasingly being put to use as an energy source.
In light of that development, new procedures for pre-treating such biomass (slurry, etc.), in order to ensure high-energy production from subsequent fermentation have been developed.
The first such plant using our latest ultrasound technology is already in operation on an agricultural estate. An interesting variant is sonication of the final product, fermented biomass, making it hygienically acceptable and thereby opening further areas in which the biomass can be profitably used.
Special types of wastewater, for instance those from milking sheds or dairies, can be specially treated with ultrasound in order to enable problem-free acceptance and treatment at local community sewage works.
Industrial or process water which, tends to be invaded by bacteria (recycled irrigation water in nursery gardens for instance) can be easily and effectively disinfected by using ultrasound. The use of chlorine, which is ecologically highly questionable, can thus be avoided. In cases of turbid or discoloured water, a combination of ultrasound and ultraviolet light can be applied, which has the advantage of being chemical-free.
