Local Government – New possibilities for the new technology
- Drinking water production
- Wastewater treatment
- Treating biosolids and sewage sludge
- Combating bulking of sludge
In drinking-water production we aim to destroy pathogenic bacteria (disinfection) by means of innovative technologies, namely by using ultrasound either alone or in combination with ultraviolet light or chlorination. Ultrasound can also be employed to regenerate drinking-water wells without utilising chemicals.
In local community wastewater purification there lies an immense potential for optimisation. We can analyse mass flows in order to precisely quantify actual performance in relation to the persistence or elimination of COD, BOD, nitrates, phosphates or other substances. In the process we can develop strategies for intensifying biological wastewater cleansing by using new procedures, especially by employing the many-sided facets of ultrasound technology. The reaction times are extraordinarily rapid and the apparatus used correspondingly compact. We are on the way to establishing a procedure for cleaning wastewater biologically with minimum incidence of excess or bulking sludge.
We develop inexpensive and environmentally correct solutions for safe employment of the sewage sludge produced. By intensifying the degradation process, more biogas is produced while the amount of residual matter decreases. In addition, dewatering can be improved in the process.
